DJ Jazzemoto has quietly amassed 30+ years of musical experience as a DJ. Born and bred in Harlem, Jazzemoto has known music since his youth as early as 4 years old, due to the musical background of both his parents sides of the family. Taught the basic pattern of James Brown’s COLD SWEAT on the drums at 5 yrs old, a musical madman was prematurely unleashed. His natural sense of rhythm was quickly recognized. Thoughout his early years, Jazzemoto was exposed to the aspects of lyric writing & the recording studio as his oldest brother’s session drummer for demos that were presented and accepted by 70’s soul group BT Express. This lead to Jazzemoto becoming a songwriter\producer by the time he was 8 years old. As he reached his early teens, a new local phenomenon took over called HIP-HOP, and record crates, pause tapes, turntables and mixers became his weapons of choice. After a failed initial attempt to be a dj, at a jam on his block, Jazzemoto “accidently” found yet another hidden talent: MCing. Going at the mic as “Baby E”, then later as “Tha Mastermind Jazz-E”, he quickly built a local reputation by having the ability to MC “off the top” at any moment.

As the years of name changes, local parties, and various former crew members progressed in his life, Jazzemoto steadily honed his various crafts and skills, and built his pre-production studio, and MIDI became his next weapon of choice. During this time, he had worked with various artist such as Cheryl the Pearl, Vertical Hold, and even Juelz Santana, Moe Betta, and Un Kaza in their early teens.

Brought back into the DJ realm by the mixtape game, Jazzemoto discovered the changes in the art of DJing such as beat juggling, DJ teams, and the like, and re-entered the DJ realm with a vengeance, using all of his self-taught abilities to bring about a mix of music that’s entertaining and informative simultaneously. Considering himself a “hip-hop purist”, he vows to never let the history of hip-hop, RnB, and just good music overall be left unknown to the younger generation to the best of his knowledge.
