Music is the conduit through which emotions can be expressed, and many times these emotions are what connect human spirits together. That common ground where this said union combines is where you will find Dj Mav cultivating minds and satisfying tastes through sound. A humble beginning guided by a greater vision of excitement, release, and guest satisfaction at every juncture is what makes and motivates him. His ability to create mixes that stimulate the senses and satisfy the sonic appetites of listeners throughout all ethnicities, age groups, and sexes is what set him apart. He began to experiment with music and sound in his Houston home around the age of seven. It was at that time that his mother purchased a four-track cassette recorder and an electric drum set. The love of musical experimentation was realized at that moment.

Always one for trying something different, hence the name Mav short for Maverick, he quickly made use of the new equipment and created songs featuring friends and family. His cousin introduced him to a neighborhood friend who was creating mixtapes, and this friend, Dj Real, allowed Mav to experiment hands on with wax. They started a crew called 3 Man Click and traveled the city doing house parties and making mixtapes. Never one to be content using others equipment, Mav decided to buy his own gear and delve deeper into the mix game. It was soon realized through many trials and errors that the Technic 1200 turntable would be his weapon of choice.

Practice makes perfect, so he practiced every night, and soon it started to come together. Mentors such as Dj Larose Royce and Cut Creator provided Mav with the critiques necessary for progression on the live and recording stage.  Dj Mav has gone on to do parties for the likes of LL Cool J and other stars, spin at various clubs and parties throughout the nation before crowds of thousands, and has continued to do it with the same spirit and enthusiasm as he began.
